Ask yourself the correct questions!
Recently since I have started reading some basic philosophy and watching podcasts, I must say, I have come to realize that a big part of your life is actually asking yourself the correct questions. Its not just asking questions that solves the problems of your life, but also you need to be very very honest to yourself when your ask yourself these questions and when you come up to the answer. Mind you, I keep using "me and you" forms of words interchangeably!! Because when I am writing, I happen to sometimes speak in second person to myself!.
Communication is the key, not just to others but also with yourself. For a longest time I detested people who could be very articulate with their words. Maybe because they used words as a tool to cause pain or for negative. But when used for positive, articulate words can be really really powerful. How to decide that you are using the words for positive? My best idea here is, use your words to find out "what the hell is the meaning/purpose for yourself in the particular mess you are facing?" If words are used for clarity and reduce suffering then they are surely used for positive.
Words framed as questions that reduce suffering bring clarity of action and purpose to life are very powerful. Ask yourself the following questions
- What is it that I am fundamentally doing wrong?
- What is one thing, that I could do and what I would do to bring a positive change in my life
- What can I do to make the life of the people surrounding me a little bit easier?
- If I could have all what I wanted (in any area of life of your choice eg. future, marriage, family, work, etc), what exactly would it be?
- What can my partner do that would make me genuinely happy?
- What does my partner need me to do, so that her life with me becomes easier and worth living?
- Where in my surroundings is responsibility being neglected? What of those should I take up?
- What will genuinely cause me suffering and unhappiness?
- What are my own demons? (what is in my nature that I know causes suffering to others?)
